BBC motor mount stand ?

I have a 68 that came with a 327. I bought 68-71 BB stands for a BB install. Was playing with the stands tonight and seems the frame at the top is 3/4-1"
to wide. My ? is do you need to trim or notch the frame for the BB stands?
Thanks Jack

BBC engine stand ?

I have a ? and I tried engine & drivetrain and did a search. I have a 68 c-10 that came with a 327 so now it needs to have a BBC so I bought some 68-71 BBC stands. seems the frame is to wide at the top for the stands to fit, Do I need to notch the frame or something to make them fit? I looks like I need to take out about 3/4-1" to make them work.
Thanks Jack.

How may of them beers did you have?? J/K, I 'm not sure but I thought this was a bolt on deal. I put the BB mounts on a 69' and it bolted right up.

Re: BBC engine stand ?

I thought it was a bolt on deal myself, Maybe a few more and they will bolt on. This truck is a 68 but maybe it has a 67 style frame and they are different? BTW I like my home brew but am out. need to brew again.

Re: BBC engine stand ?

I thought it was 67 only but maybe was 68 as well that you have to notch the frame for the BB stands. other years are bolt in

Re: BBC engine stand ?

i just recently did the same in my 68, the early 68s and all 67s need to have the frame cut for the stands, you will probably have to also cut for the headers if you use them, one more thing, beings as you have the earlier frame if you want to add power steering you will need to make an indention in the frame next to the steering box.

Re: BBC engine stand ?

I had to notch the left side for the stands and the headers (hooker p/n 2454), but the right side fit just fine, the headers did as well. I have a early 68 that came with a 6 cyl. I think they were using up left over parts when they built some these trucks. Here are some pics.
