What I did on labor day

Well, I cannot leave well enough alone. I am not going to be driving the '70 until I sell the '97, so I decided to drop it today. My wife say's that I cannot spend any money on the '70 until I sell the other truck, so I did the unthinkable and cut the front coils and monoleafed the rear. I know this is not safe, but since I don't drive it anyway's I decided to see what it will look like low. When the '97 sells, I am going to airbag it, along with some major engine mods. What do you think? Too Low?

How much was the ride height lowered? What size tires are you running/do they rub any?

Thumbs up Re: What I did on labor day

Looks good...

I don't believe in the drop till it scrapes line of thinking. They need to keep some form of respectability as a truck.

My idea is to drop them enough to ride comfortable and look good but no so much that you can't take a leisurely drive to those foothills in the background.

Re: What I did on labor day

Texanc3, the ride height was lowered 5" all four corners, 245/75/r16 tires. Not the combo I will be using when I start driving it, this was just to see what it would look like lowered.

Re: What I did on labor day

What do you mean by mono leafing the rear. I know how to cut the coils B/C i cut them on my old s-10 but how do i go about doing the mono leaf on the rear. I have a 1968 GMC 1500 by the way.

You probably have coils in the rear, so you cannot really monoleaf it. I would not reccommend cutting the coils, it is really cheap to buy a set of lowered coils if you do your research. The only reason I cut mine was to see what it would look like. I am going to buy some airbags before I really start driving it. This can also be cheap to do if you know where to find the stuff and can do a little fabrication yourself. I found some airbags for about $60 each, However I am going to try to find some a little cheaper. I probably will not put a compressor in it right now due to funds, I will just use a shop compressor to air it up when need be (until I can afford the whole setup).
