WIW - 69 Camper Truck - A/C cab
I have a lead on my next possible truck. 69 Camper Special, A/C cab. The pictures show it as rust free. 57k on the factory 350.
At this point I will assume the camper is junk since i have no pics of it. Here's a good shot of the P side. I have no images of the D side. |

Looks nice from the pictures.
The front tire is a little low, but just on the bottom so it should be OK

That is one clean 69. How much are you going to have o give for it? Yank the camper and find a nice fleet bed, and you will have a sweet ride

Re: WIW - 69 Camper Truck - A/C cab
there's my green interior! wonder what Chevy was thinking with this combo, but it is unique! I even have aqua visors. maybe something added later, but weird.
oh by the way, nice, nice cab. I'd scarf it up if you could! and if you ever just, you know want to donate the a/c ball housings and the steering wheel to a good cause........ and the seat, and the seat belts, and the a/c controls........ Last edited by tcb-1; 09-19-2007 at 05:18 PM. |

I doubt it's rust free, look at the dvr floor and kick panel in that photo... not only is it patched, but crudely done too. Still looks like a sweet cab, and I'd bet if you checked the VIN, that truck probably came with a bed on it.

Re: WIW - 69 Camper Truck - A/C cab
so i stopped and looked at the truck tonight. It hadn't been started in a year, but with a little starter fluid, it popped right off. flat tire is also holding air.
He's lookin' to get $1500 out of the truck. IMO, the cab and fenders are in great shape. I did see a pop rivet head in the P side rocker, and that plate on the D side is pop riveted in. Not sure why it's there cause it doesn't look like there's any rust around there. The camper seemed solid, but i didn't look close since i could care less about the camper. As much as i'd like an A/C cab, i don't see myself taking on the task of swapping cabs any time soon, so I'm not gonna pick up the truck. If you're interested, send me a PM and i can forward you the contact info of the person. |

Re: WIW - 69 Camper Truck - A/C cab
That would be a great weekend getaway truck. I would get it and leave it as a camper maybe put an old 6.2 diesel in it to get a little better gas milage out of it.

Re: WIW - 69 Camper Truck - A/C cab
How many miles would it take to pay that mod off in MPG savings? Theykinda crap out when you start adding up the weight on them. Look at the P/30 trucks, the gassers are more common than the 6.5s, even though they sold more of the oil burners.

Re: WIW - 69 Camper Truck - A/C cab
you can get a 6.2 for around 200 bucks so I wouldnt think it would take that long a 4bt out of a bread truck would work to but it would cost alot more to do the convertion. As for reliablity it seam to be 50 50 but i have never had one with any of the trouble they have been known for. Im puting one in the burb write now.
