New Truck

Yeah I finally got my truck! I dont have much info on it yet. It was late last night, we barly got it on the trailor before dark. We had a blow out on the intersate on our way there and that took the extra time we planned for. Anyway I will take a few picks once its unloaded.

Does anyone have any suggestions for putting a shine back on faded paint?

Re: New Truck

Check into the claybar compound, I believe you can get it at most parts stores. I've read several articles on how some have used them to bring back the shine. However if you have a clearcoat you may have to repaint.

Re: New Truck

All a claybar does is remove surface impurities so they don't scratch your paint when polishing, it will not improve the shine. After you claybar, you need to polish the surface with a mild abrasive polish and orbital buffer to bring the shine back.

Well i still dont have pics, but they will be here tommorow. We got it running and it has 50 oil psi. So nothing is wrong with it. We just have to time it and tune the carb. Im pumped to get this thing goin!

Re: New Truck

Sorry i kinda started in the middle.

I purchased an 84 LWB. It has a brand new 350 crate in it. They got it in and the oil gauge showed no pressure so they parked it and has sat for a few years. Monday night i purchased the truck and drug it home.

On the inside the dash is cracked and the headliner is sagging, but the rest wont be bad after some cleaning. The paint is faded and it has some rust, but i think i got a decent deal on it. Especieally with a new engine. I will upload the pics as soon as i can.

Ya-hoo! You got some spaghetti under that hood! I'll stick with my old boys - much easier. I'm happy for ya - that's one of the best looking years of those trucks, IMo.
