Re: replace my rear
Here's a bump for you Al... with that huge wagon you'll be towing, you'll need the brakes!

Re: replace my rear
thx Andy, spent some time jawing with Livrat today, between the two of you I've come to the conclusion that there is no replacement for displacement. So the hunt is on. I have the 700r4 beefed up is now on order. looking for a 500 caddy. looking for the 3.73 rear end 14 bolt. 31 inch tires, should give me 1900 rpm at 60mph. low end torque and I'm pulling a 7000lb. trailer, so bigger rear brakes is better.
by the way, I had to give 01/30 issue of the Longhorn Man t-shirt away. 72Blue in Longview did me a big favor and checked out the trailer, saved me a 8 hr return drive checking it out. I'm heading down sunday, having a beer, pass over the shirt (and giving him major bragging rights) I'll send you a pic when I get it. Al.

Re: replace my rear
you can use a 14 bolt from a mid 70s 3/4 or 1 ton. you will probably have to move the spring perches, and do some adapting for the brake lines, and some driveline work.

Re: replace my rear
Too bad I have what you want here on the east coast.Shipping would be $$$$ and I just don`t have the time to roll it that far.A 3.73 rear, torquey motor and o/d should make a great hiway and tow combo.

Re: replace my rear
yep, not a worry,
i got my enjoyment with the fun and appreciation everyone had. I showed my buddy (he screened them) the shirt on ebay. I'll never have a problem asking him for a favor now. can I call you tonight. I've got the 500 down to $400 now. going back monday to do a thorough inspect, could use some pointers.
