wiring connections original to LT1

ok sorry but I will admitt, I'm not the sharpest electrical guy. I will share with you I have most of the wiring of the LT1 Harness complete. now my question is the harness that use to go to the altenator (it was a internal voltage regulator set up) now with the LT1 harness connected to the new Internal reg. altenator what and do i and how do I connect my original altenator wire harness to the new instalation. the LT1 alt. wire plug (after taking the tape off from the wire harness from the LT1 there is only one wire plugging into the altenator from a factory 4 wire connector. so I know well Im thinking that well I must need to connect the trucks (by the way its a 72) original wire harness for the altenator back up. please I sure could use some detail explaination for this please

Re: wiring connections original to LT1

There are 4 terminals on the alternator labeled SFLP. Wire the "S"to the #2 wire on old alternator and the "L" to #1. Here is a link that may help http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...=Custom&ID=650
