Re: Favorite grill - make a choice!
I like my 71-72s best on my 4wds..and then the 70 only grill with the silver/black painted inner grill that the '70 model had...I don't like the 67-68 look.I guess that's because I'm a 4wd owner and I don't think the 67-68 front clips look good on lifted 4wds..I've got to squeeze the 4 eye'd GMCs (71-72 GMC is my favorite) in there after 71-72 Chevy and before 70 Chevy grills for my 4wds though..

'71-'72 front makes the toughest lifted 4x4 look IMO. However I do have a soft spot for the '67's with small window in 4x4, but only because of how rare they are, one year only. As a side, the only thing ford out sells GM on is hype! There is a reason GM is NO.1 in Detroit, and ford is NO.2. Been that way for the longest time, and for good reason. IMO

Re: Favorite grill - make a choice!
I personally love the 67-68 front end on a low 2wd and the 71-72 front end on the 4X4s as some have mentioned previously.
As far as the Ford vs Chevy debate that has spawned from this, when it came time to drop some real money on a truck.....just check the sig. Then again in '06 the C1500s were fugly at best. Let the flaming begin!!!

Time to rekindle this. The 67-68 was kicking butt when this thread slid off the map!

I'm a bit partial to the '71-'72 grills... I don't know why though.

67-72 Chevy on any 2wd for me they all kick @ss. Now when you throw in the 4x4 I like the 70 GMC 4 headlight. With the 72 Chev a close second.

Re: Favorite grill - make a choice!
I gotta say 67-68, though I really still like the 69-70 grill. The 71-72 has too much of a home-made last-minute aftermarket look to me, maybe because its missing the horizontal bar that the 67-68 and 69-70 grills have.

Re: Favorite grill - make a choice!
this is realy a hard choice for me, in general i just have to say that i love all grilles chevy and gmc, now down in specifics if i had a choice i would rather not have a 69-70 chevy grille on my truck but i wouldnt change it if i got one unless it was a different year truck, and i like the first 2 mostly chrome grilles of the gmcs not so much the last one, now which ones do i like the most, well im building a 68 andi love the look of it but i dont think they look very good in most applications, kinda outof place on some trucks, my dream vehicle is my dads 71 i think that no matter what the application the lightolive green and white with the 71-72 looks absolutely amazing and id trade any truck for the right one, but i agree with alot of the others 67-68, in this day and age when a muscle car is prety much out of the question for a kid in highschool a 67-68 will be my muscle car.

Re: Favorite grill - make a choice!
I guess I'm in a minority with special-k.
Between the spring and late fall, when the rain starts, my favorite grill is my Weber Smokey Joe in the bed; whether I'm heading to the campground, or a beach, or some kind of sporting event. When that little jewel is back there I know I'm going to be hanging, and partying with family and/or good friends. A guy couldn't ask for more than that. Just my .02. Everybody have a good weekend.

I like the grill on porterbuilt's shop truck rendering (1969). Stock - yup 67 for me too. 69's and 70's are growing on me.

Re: Favorite grill - make a choice!
I like Chevy grills okay, but I've always thought that they had too much paint and not enough grill in the older ones, and too much grill mesh up there on the newer years. I've always liked the GMC grills better by a long shot! No mesh, No paint, ALL CHROME, looking good, bold, and in your face. The earlier GMC grills are my favorite because I like how they have the "GMC" in the grill, but the later years are awesome too. Oh yea, the double head lights are way cooler too!
