Going crazy lining up pulleys on v8 conversion
I have just replaced the straight six in my '72 with a nice rebuilt 327 with turbo 400. I also have added a power steering pump from a '72 Chevy with of course the box. I currently have a aluminum short water pump. Can someone look at their pulleys on their 350 and tell me what's up? 1) Do you have a short or long pump?
2) Does a belt run from just the bottom pulley to the power steering pump or does it also go to the water pump? 3) Does the groove closest to the engine run the alternator? I CAN'T GET ANYTHING TO LINE UP!  Please check your power steering vehicles for me ....Thanks!!

Your power steering pump is driven by the crank pully only..... Do not run a belt around the waterpump pully. The belt for the alternator runs around the crank, waterpump, and alternator. The factory aplication calls for a short waterpump. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (That water pump also looks kind of like a long one to me.)

Short water pump is correct for 72 trucks.
Nice looking engine! I don't see the inner pulley, (the single pulley against the balancer). Anyway, the inner pulley drives the alternator and the water pump. The outer pulley drives the power steering pump and is a very short belt. It does not go over the water pump. If you had ac then you would need a pulley stackup of three pullies. With no ac, the center pulley is not needed . Jim |

mine is kind of rigged, but i took a 3 groove lower pulley, and the P/S lines up with the middle groove, then i have a 2 groove upper and it lines up with the upper back groove, then i have the alt/water pump/crank around the front groove
BTW--- i had to space out between my pump and bracket with 2 washers

Double groove pulley for Crank
Does anyone know who sells a double groove pulley for the crank. I just added ps as well and need the double pulley.
