72 roof panel replacement???

ive got expeiriance repaneling first gen camaros.. ive never worked on a 72 truck, and i havent picked up the new project yet.. so i cant really get hands on right now.. but i was wondering if anyone knows a thread documenting a roof panel replacement, or if anyone here has done it,

im wondering is it all standard stuff, drill out ould spotwelds, clamp new panel down and fill the holes in original metal....

or is it totally different?...

thanx..

Re: 72 roof panel replacement???

Well,if it was a regular truck it would be as easy as cutting the roof from a donor truck and welding it on,but since it's a 3 or 4 door conversion from "back in the day" I dont know.

Re: 72 roof panel replacement???

is the original panel easy to remove by drilling out the spot welds? maybe some lead in the rear?

Re: 72 roof panel replacement???

A suburban roof panel will probably not help much. The crown of a 'burb is much higher than the one for a pickup.I would guess you will need 3 pick up roofs to have enough to fix that.Luckily there are plenty of cabs so bad that the roof is probably the only decent panel.
