Tailgate Install
Can't remember how to get the tailgate back on-Help!!
Been off the bed for two years while restoring truck. It is a fleetside. I don't know if it is old age, or I just got a brain fart. Thanks, Dave

Re: Tailgate Install
usually install one of the lower pivots on the bed beforehand, then put the other pivot into the pocket on the tailgate and shoehorn it in there. I'm having a hard time describing it in words. Hope this helps

Re: Tailgate Install
I think what is stumping me is how to wedge everything back in.

Re: Tailgate Install
I put the left side trunion on first, then I always get someone to help and hold the tailgate in the position like it is when open, then tilt it upward on the right side with the left side of tailgate pocket mounted onto the trunion. The put the right side trunion onto the tailgate a slide it slowly downward into position where you can mount the two bolts that hold the right trunion onto the bedside. Hope that's not to confusing. Regards

Re: Tailgate Install
I had an 82 fleet and you stick the driver side in/on then pick it up at about a 50 degree angle and the passenger side slips down. Might not be the same, but might be....
