Motor mounts
Has anyone used late model style motor mounts, in there trucks,
I sat the 454 in my truck to break it in, (and of course I couldn't leave it on the stand any longer without hearing it) and I used some late model mounts, other than one hole not lining up, what would be the problem with using them verses the original style, that would appear to raise the engine up, and also doesn't look as strong...what have you guys used, my set up is a '68 swb, with a 454, and a turbo 400. Are there going to be any unforseen problems Thanks John

howdy, bout your question, im using an 85 frame, but the engine mounts are off a van, ill try and get pics next weekend, it was snug goin on, those rubbers are a *****...but we got it and its lookin damn sweet....

The later clamshell style mounts should be a better deal than the old style mounts as far as strenght....crazyL

I have been toying with the idea of using 73 and up engine towers, and the clam shell style mounts. Might try it when I start my engine swap soon.

If it'll bolt up and you can shut the hood...go for it.
Like mentioned, they are better mounts. |

I used a set of '74 mounts in my '67 and BB. They took some massaging, but they went in fine. I run a 3" filter and 1" carb spacer with just enough clearance with the hood.
