Smile what parts needed to use 68 hood on 71

I really want that 68 hood with the 2 inch cowl induction. I hate to admit it but I was thinking of taking the
easy way out and just buying everything and just bolting it on instead of
spending the time to repair the old stuff. So if I take the easier road what
do I need?

Sorry. The 68 hood will not just bolt onto a 71. Grille differences and it's about 2 inches longer. Several have mod'd theirs to fit. Do a search for hoods and I think you will find more than a few threads dealing with modifying the hoods to fit. Rokcrln has a very good one in the build threads.

You need the hood, radiator support, and all the stuff to fit the 68.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: what parts needed to use 68 hood on 71

to convert it, you need the following:

Core Support (the piece that the radiator connects to)
Fenders
grill
hood.

Re: what parts needed to use 68 hood on 71

One of the truck mags, whether Classic Trucks or Custom Classic Trucks, featured a '69-72 pie-cut hood exercise. The max that you can take out is limited by the placement of the radiator support as it meets the bottom side of the hood. For that style of hood, the cut was 2-inches at the front and it tapered back to the rear of the hood. It didn't quite have the slope that the 67-8's have, but it was much sleeker than the near-vertical leading edge that ours have. It was on my want-list, but I recovered. It would still be neat to do, some day.
