12 bolt rear questions.........

I found a 12 bolt 342 posi rear for sale. It's about 100 miles away so i haven't actually seen.
The seller says it has an Auburn posi.
Questions are 12 bolt auburn posi in 1985?
Is the width the same as 1972?
I know I will have to put trailing arm brackets on it, but at the price it's worth it, if it will work. I don't want to drive 200 miles round trip unless it is the same width.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: 12 bolt rear questions.........

Don't know if 85 would have had an Auburn posi from the factory. It's my understanding the Auburn unit is not rebuildable. It is the same width, though. You'll also have to fab a panhard rod bracket.

Re: 12 bolt rear questions.........

Last year for a 12 bolt was 81. It could have been put in the truck, but would not have come factory w/a 12 bolt.
