Advice : Removing Clutch on 4x4 K5

Hate to do it, but I've got to go back in and find out what's making a grinding noise when I engage my clutch. No noise in gear or in neutral.

I've got about 600 miles on new engine, clutch, pressure plate,T.O. bearing, new fork and ball.

Any helpful hints to removing clutch without removing the engine. I'm thinking I can remove tranny and transfer case in one piece and slide it back a foot or two.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim
