Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

Guys:

Does anybody have a set of trashed buddy buckets that they would be willing to cut me a small sample of the insert material. The buckets I'm talking about are like the picture below. The kind with the insert in them. I need the sample from the insert portion. I'm looking at having the material reproduced for my truck seat and I need to know what the spacing is on the pleats, etc. Color doesn't matter. Thanks guys.

You might try this place. They have most of the old stuff, and they send samples.

Thanks John. They are actually the ones making the material for me and they are requesting the sample. T

What are they going to charge you? They do awesome work! I've got a section I can send them. I will be out of town for the rest of the week and can send it to them on Monday. I have their address but it should be sent to someone's attention.

Re: Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

So is this what a set of buddy buckets look like? The regular buckets would have a console and not the back pad shown in the middle?
Thanks

Re: Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

I have a set of 67 buddy buckets. they are very trashed. I will see them Sat afternoon. I will get you a sample. how many different styles did they have in '67... Mine are blue... I don't remember an insert, unless I don't remember due to the insert is the same color as the rest of the seat.
I'll look Saturday...

Re: Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

stllookn, here's what they quoted me for material. $79 per yard for the correct fawn colored material with the heat pressed lines in it. $49 per yard for the correct fawn material with no lines, for the sides and back of the seats. They said that I would need about 1 1/2 yards of the heat pressed material and about 2 1/2 yards of the plain material. That's just for the seats, console, etc.

Basically, I'm having them make three fabrics. First, the plain material in the fawn color. Second, the heat pressed material, wide, like what came on the door panels. Third, the heat pressed material, narrow, that would have come on the inserts in the pics above.

I need someone to send the sample to me so I can package it up with the other samples and submit it with my request to the contact person I spoke with.

Re: Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

Basically, there were two types of seat patterns for 67 and 68 buddy buckets. There is the wide heat pressed and the narrow heat pressed, which was in an insert in the seats. I believe the wide heat pressed were for '67 and the narrow were for '68. I can't ever keep that straight, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong. See the pics below for the two types. I need the sample from the narrow lined insert.

Re: Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

67 cst swb, if your seats are out of a '67, they are probably the wide heat pressed pattern. If they are the narrow, however, I would really appreciate it if you could send me a sample. I've already got the sample for the wide pattern from the set that I am going to have recovered.

When I get the fabric made and receive it, I'll post the part number or whatever info anyone would need to order the three styles of material in fawn from SMS.

Mine are the original 67 seats in my 67 CST. So they are probably the wide.

I have a 68 GMC with trashed buddy buckets. I'll send you a sample. send me a PM with your Address. Mine look just like your first pic. Just a different color so should be the same, no? BTW my seats have the inserts in the seat as well as the back, and yes it's the original upholstery.

Re: Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

Well, I just placed an order with SMS Auto Fabrics for my fawn material.

A HUGE thanks to 68CaliRat for providing me with the sample of the seat insert material. Let me know if I can ever return the favor.

Now, for the bad part....the prices. There were three types of material. The plain vinyl and the narrow heat pressed vinyl for the seats, plus, the wider heat pressed vinyl for the door panels and a headliner (even though it isn't stock, I'm putting a headliner in this truck).

The total bill is going to be just under $500 for the material. That's for enough material to do the buddy bucket seats, door panels and the headliner. They are going to actually stamp the headliner, so it will have that border around it, like factory.

I guess when you add up a new aftermarket seat cover, door panel covers and a headliner, that would run you $450 or so. Really, the only additional cost is going to be having the covers sewn. I've got a good guy for that who is doing it at a really reasonable price for me.

I'll let you guys know when I receive the material. They are going to start on it next week, so I will have this stuff in a couple of weeks. I'll post part numbers, etc. in case anyone wants to order. Some of you fawn interior guys may especially want that headliner.

Thanks again to everybody.

Re: Help, Need a 67-68 Buddy Bucket Material Sample

There are four c-shaped brackets that bolt through the bottom of the console. The brackets curl around the frame and hold the middle seat in place.
