Steering column sawp?

Can I swap a 3 speed on the column to a auto column from one truck to another without a lot of difficuty? I have a chance to get the auto column if I can just swap them out, I hope to get a auto trans later. I have a power steering box I want to use later also. I hope it can be done with changing only from the rag joint upward to the steerig wheel. Whata think?

Re: Steering column sawp?

The column swap is pretty easy and should bolt in. You need the linkage, and a bracket on the frame if I remember correctly to shift the auto trans.

The splined shaft may have a different diameter between the manual and power steering boxes.

You can get a new rag joint for $50-$60 though. Some people frown on the rebuild kits as well, but that isn't a factor in the steering box swap.

67 or early 67 frames didn't have dimples for the ps box, but the box can be shimmed, or the frame beat on...
