Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
For those that dont know me, here is what you need to know to get the true desperation of this thread.
Im 16 Applying for every open job I can find $400 in my bank account Now the story. I went out to the ag shop today with high hopes. The plan was to take the tires off, set them out about 2 inches, and use jacks to lower the truck and see how far i wanted to drop it. Everything involved in that went well. However, as I took the rear tires off, I found that the trailing arms have rusted to the point that they have bent, cracked, broken, cut under the new rear springs. The rear most part of the trailing arms are sitting on the helper springs, permanent like. It was an absolutely sickening discovery because as stated above, the money is not anywhere in sight for a new set. With insurance due in February, a used set isn't even in budget. Everytime I get in my truck I feel like it could be the last time because it could be a one way trip to death. It is most definately not safe. But I have to go to school. I tried asking around for rides so I could park it until I could fix it but noone could. So yeah. I was so depressed by the time I got home I had to post it up. This isn't a want to buy ad. I realize I'm not allowed to post them. It is, in a way, a "Anybody-got-the-parts-to-help-a-brother-out" ad. If anyone can help me out, please let me know. And if your the type, keep me in your prayers. my guardian angels are going to be working very hard every time my truck starts. Sadly, Newton *Edit: I added the drawing below. It's not perfect but for the visual people like me it might help. Last edited by 69C10@16; 12-20-2007 at 03:09 PM. Reason: Added Drawing |

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
Would you mind checking shipping to 65661? It would HAVE to be cheaper than a new set or even a used one. I could probably get my parents to float me some money for shipping if it's not too bad. My dad realizes the severity of the issue and would probably be willing to help out to a degree. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
I don't have a set, but I have to think there's a junkyard nearby that would let you have a set dirt cheap if you were willing to spend the day out there getting 'em out.

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
I guesstimated 90 lbs and shipping would be $61 if it's one package. $61 is do-able if you truly don't mind getting rid of them. I don't want to seem pesky but, could i maybe get a couple of pics when you have some free time to do so?

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
I have looked all OVER for junkyards nearby and can't find any that have a 67-72 chevy pickup. Most are "car only" yards and the one's that do have trucks claim to not have any these years. The other folks around here must have alreadt cleaned em out. They're awesome trucks, I can understand why they'd be out. Of course, if anyone around the southwest Missouri area knows of one then PLEASE feel free to let me know about it because I can't find one.

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
These ones? It looks like they are bent upwards behind the springs like mine are now. Probably not due to the same reasons but, wont that create a drop on my truck? And still be hitting the helper springs? Or are ALL trailing arms like that and I'm just going crazy?

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
Check out Stuetsmans (sp?) in Highlandville. Go south passed EE on 65 and you'll see it on your left. They ought to have what you need. Might give 'em a ring first, since you're in Greenfield.

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
they arent bent ,they r rust free, the angle of pics makes them look off i guess...there is no spring on them and the notch is huge so the re tucked up real high ..wouldnt offer you a bent arm and make you pay shipping...lol..

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
I think I just realized that what looks like bending upwards is just the bend to make them level and the trailing arms are angled up the entire way back because of the drop. Woops.
SB69Chevy - Thanks for the tip. Most definately will do. Eyeh8the24 - Let me see what shortbed70 has to offer since he is quite a bit closer. Will get back with you. Shortbed70 - PM being sent. |

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
Hey Guys,
I did a DHL GROUND shipping Quote (Estimate Only) from 36467 to 65661 and the price was about $20.00 I shipped a set from Jersey to Fl for $31.00 If I remember, the dimensions were 50" long x 9" height x 4" wide and the weight was 50 lbs. I stacked them and wired the cross member side and used a U-bolt on the other side. I also wired the hole where the coil spring bolt goes. I did not wrap them in any way. I called them and for $4.00 extra, they picked them up from my house. Took 4 days for delivery. Good Luck

Re: Im In BIG Trouble, And Now I Need Depression Meds
vetvette. lol. yes for most that is true but for me, I bought my truck for 800 and had 2700 left in the bank. That was at the beginning of august. I now have 400. 7Mpg. $400 insurance payment to make in february. and a girlfriend 20 miles away. LOOKING for a job. that spells broke. quick. lol. i am cheering up a LOT now that i realize i can fix this for way less than i thought it would be. I was thinking $400 for a new set. and THAT was depressing. Of course, it didnt help that I havent been ablt to talk to my girlfriend for two days. So i may have felt a little bit lonely too.

Brand new 3/4 ton springs as of late september. If I had a camera worth a darn I would go get a couple of pics to show you guys. Its pretty obvious where the problem is.
