Job Layoff before Christmas

Right before Christmas my job was downsized. I was a CAD designer for "Ryobi" a power tool manufacturer in South Carolina for 23 years. Well we design the tools and they are manufactured in China like everything else. Anyway, I guess that puts everything in a different perspective as far as my 71 C10 project is concerned. If you know of any jobs available in my field let me know please. Regards

Re: Job Layoff before Christmas

No time is a good time to get news like that but it is really bad to get it right at Christmas. Good luck with getting back to work soon. My oldest son lives in Easley or did. He moved about 5 miles down the road last summer. I'll try to look you up next time I go to see him.

Re: Job Layoff before Christmas

Sorry to hear about the layoff. I've been there. I have to say, a layoff right before Christmas.........my opinion of Ryobi just went down. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm shopping for a tool.

Been laid off numbers of times....I know it sucks. At least you have some usable training and experience. It doesn't matter how good a fork lift driver you are, there just isn't a lot of call for them.

Good luck on your job search. Hoperfully, you'll find one better than the last, paying more money and your truck project will be better than ever.

Re: Job Layoff before Christmas

There seems to be lots of jobs in CNC design & operation, if that is your skill, here in the NW.
Lots of Boeing work. My son works for suppliers of Boeing & others and he is swamped with overtime. He has continual job offers from other companies and sometimes moves around locally for the better pay & benefits.

If you're willing to move, you shouldn't have any problem finding a mechanical designer job.

Dang it. And I used to like Ryobi. Oh well, we have a Milwalkee plant right here in Jackson, so I might have to change loyalties. Hope it all works out for ya.
