Welding helmets. AGAIN. Biggest viewing area?

Which welding helmet comes with the biggest viewing area. Im looking at the miller and they say that they have the largest viewing area. Is this correct?

Here is what im about to pull the trigger on now.

Any other suggestions that have that size, or bigger, or are comparable for cheaper???

The auto darkening helmet is nice for doing small jobs, But after a day of using one, I usually have one heck of a headache, and my eyes are sore! (mild flash burn) I have gotten rid of my Fibre Metal helmet and went back to the Big cheap solid lens. It is a bit more difficult to see exactly where I'm starting the weld but after the initial flash all is good. This is something like what I use now.

I weld all day five days a week, but I have never had a problem with needing the largest viewing area available. I have a new Miller elite with the large viewing area, and I also use the smaller area Miller as well. As I said before the area has never been a real issue for me. Buy a good auto dark helmet though. Don't go cheap or you could end up with the arc flash issues above. From my experience the Miller is the best for the money. If you want faster auto darkening go with a jackson, and if you want a crappy headgear go with a speedglas.

At work I use an old speedglass that I converted to fixed lens and added Jackson headgear. I still have my auto lens if I need it (for really tight spots). I have a Jackson shadow 5X7 fixed at home.

You never forget to turn on a fixed lens. It always works.

that is the same helmet i have and i bought it from the same people over a year ago. i was getting ICAR certified at the time in tig and i was practicing a lot. i could not decide on the design i wanted the camo or black but i ended up with the boyd because they marked it down to 219.
