what's some differences between 67-68 and 69-72?
60-66 guy here with a question for the 67-72 guys. Looks like there's a good chance of getting a 68 short fleet in trade for a unrestored 73 Cuda 383 4spd I have. I haven't seen pics of the truck yet, but the guy is supposed to bring it over this weekend for me to look at. He says he figures it's worth 12k (he says show quality.) But, I need a little help making sure it's all 68 with no 69-72 parts mixed in. I know the obvious hood difference on the 67-68's but what else should I look for. What about marker lights, back-up lights, etc? What's a 67-68 got or not supposed to have that a 69-72 does?
Any helpful household tips would be appreciated.

Re: what's some differences between 67-68 and 69-72?
Parking brake is a hand lever, not foot pedal.Side markers are just reflectors on`68...
Unless you want it to be original there really aren`t many differences that matter.Other than the front clip thereare no sheetmetal differences. There`s the drum to disc in`71 and the motor sizes changed,SBC in`69 and BBC in`70.The`68 had manual choke,so dash holes are layed out different.Steering wheels changed in`69,but interchangeable.Tilt wheel not offered until`69.Exterior trim changed in`69.

in all reality, the best way would be to post a lot of photos on here and let up at them.

Another idea...get the vin # and it can be decoded here to verify it's a matching numbers truck.

Should be 6 lug wheels instead of 5 lug- but take pictures and we'll let you know.

Re: what's some differences between 67-68 and 69-72?
There are a few subtle differences between a 67 and a 68. Post some pictures and we'll help you figure it out especially if it's supposed to be a stock 68.

Re: what's some differences between 67-68 and 69-72?
I appreciate all the help. I used to have a 68 GMC, so I was somewhat familiar with the differences. But, on the VIN decode idea, I'm probably gonna make a decision as soon as he sees my car and I see his truck. I told him I would trailer the Cuda to his house that day if we do a trade. I'll keep you updated. Thanks again.
