Question about brakes-12 bolt to 10 bolt swap
I am swapping the high geared 12 bolt in my 76' Chevy for a 10 bolt with 3.73's for a better match to my 700r4. I got the 10 bolt out of a mid-80's Suburban at a local pick-a-part yard.
I was wondering if I should go ahead and plan on buying new brakes for the 10 bolt, or if I can swap the good brakes on my 12 bolt to the 10 bolt by swapping the entire brake panel assembly. I looked at some of the part numbers in my LMC catalog, and some of the drums and other parts are the same through out the 70's and 80's depending on the size of the brakes. However, I couldn't find part numbers for the panel. Does anyone happen to know if they will bolt up to the 10 bolt? Thanks for the help. |

Panel? Do you mean the backplate? I think they are interchangeble. I went the other way 10 bolt to a 77 12 bolt. I bought everything new for the 12 bolt.

Re: Question about brakes-12 bolt to 10 bolt swap
I finally got around to swapping rear ends. In case anyone else is wondering, the brakes on a 12 bolt and 10 bolt are completely interchangable. We unbolted everything from the 12 bolt and put it on the 10 bolt.
