How much for 700r4 conversion

I have seen the threads for the 700r4 conversions and it is something that I want to do for my 68. My question is how much give or take would it cost. I have a 68 that has a 400 turbo so that means the drive shaft would have to be shortened, need a kit to release the lockup when I brake or something similar, linkage for the carb, the tranny itself which I could probably get from a junkyard and get it rebuilt at a shop. I know I am missing a bunch more so help me fill in the blanks.

Dova asked the same question, while he was still in Iraq, and I told him that it would be around $14-1500. Imagine my surprise when the guy I recommended to him quoted me an even grand ($1000) for a complete turn-key job. In the door with a TH350....out the door with a 700R4!

I bought a motor and 700r4 from a board member, put it in the back of my truck, drove it to a local transmission shop, drove in with a 305/th350 and drove out with the 406/700r4 a few days later, total cost, $406 and he got to keep the old motor and trans, I did not argue.

This was my 85 can't see it being a heck of a lot more for a 67-72 model year truck.

Even if you add in the $ he would have gotten for the 350/350, that is a darn good deal....

Yep I didn't argue one bit, that 305 was dog tired, and the 350 wasn't shifting quite right either, I was very pleased to pay him his price and let him keep the parts, very pleased.

When it was all done, $2600 for the truck plus 3600 for the motor and trans combo, and $400 for the labor, I was on the road with authority (then another $900 for 3.73 gears and eaton posi and install).

anyone know of one that would do that in big D? when I ask, i usually get a "we don't do that sort of thing here..."

I found a shop that will do that. Was quoted $2500 for everything and that including buying a tranny from them etc. Hey also told me that it would be 500 cheaper if I provide the tranny to rebuild. I think its time to head out to a junk yard and pick me up a 700r4.
