Got it put in this weekend.
I still can't believe the previous owner didn't bolt the old engine down. I've been driving it for almost two years with the motor just sitting on the pads. And yes, that's a BFH sitting on the frame rail.

For all practical purposes; no.
Someone had showed 3/8 bolts up into the motor mounts. The passenger side one was laying in the bracket, the other one I pulled (not turned) out with my fingers.
I was wondering why I could never keep the rear tranny seal intact.

Looks great! If you aren't using a BFH, you need a more challenging project!

Whatever rocket scientist mounted the 396 in my truck didn't have the driver's side upper crossmember bolted to the frame or the lower (main one that goes all the way across) crossmember. It was just held in by the passenger side bolts and gravity.

Some people just get lazy and throw things together without regard for anyone elses safety. I'm glad you caught it now and not when something really bad had happened. Those are nice pulleys BTW.

Thanks guys. The pulleys and brackets are from Summit.
Pretty much everything on and in that engine (except the pulleys and brackets) are from Craig's List or I pulled from the junkyard and rebuilt.
I got lucky on the block and found a 4-bolt with a forged crank in an old tow truck. Had it bored out with new pistons and threw in a cam.
I'm sure my neighbors will be hating me in a couple weeks when I fire that thing up.

well pushing smaller bolts in was allot easier than trying to screw the right size bolts in
