ethenol gas ?
THe gas in my area now contains 10% ethenol. I have heard it can break up rust in the gas tank. Has anyone had probs with it in a gas tank that has been sealed?

Being an alcohol it is not so bad regarding rust as it drives water out preventing rust.
Driving the water out the first time may cause some issues. Addtionaly one needs to be careful with the seals for the sending unit, carb, and fuel lines to make sure they are all compatable.

With 10% you'll be fine, it's pretty much all I run in my 70 with no changes to the fuel system (Cheapest gas). You will get slightly less mileage.
I also run it in the winter in my car to keep water out of the fuel (currently -13F w/c -42) and prevent ice up.

My concern is will it eat the stuff that was used to line the gas tank.

I don't think it will, my truck was in a field for 10 years and I ran 10% blend in the stock tank for 2 years before switching to a fuel cell. Ever added HEET to your gas? It's ethanol and doesn't eat the crud.

I have ran my 1970 delta on 10% all the time it will not effect anything except a very slight decreacse in gas mileage. Ethonal burns cleaner and will actually clean the varnish out,
I live up here in SD were you can get E85 and I am lookng at going to lake area for auto tech and they had a mid 90s suburban non flex fuel and the guy worked at an ethanol plant and wanted to run E85 in his car so just ran it till the vehicle hit 100,000 mile and then donated it to the college so they could take it apart and inspect it, There wasn't anything wrong with it it met all standards for measurements and whatnot.

I've ben runnning it for 25 years and never have had a problem with it. I actaully prefer it over regular since it is a higher octane.

I believe all gas for the winter atleast contains atleast 10% should not do any damage.

i didn't know you could get fuel without ethonol. all pumps around here say it contains up to 10 percent ethonol and have fora long time
