350 Timing
I need timing figures for a '71 Cheyenne w/ 350 & automatic. After replacing the stock distributor, I set the initial advance at 8 deg w/o the vacuum advance connected. It runs nice, but I am wondering where it is really supposed to be? Any help is appreciated.

I assume you replaced the stock distributor with HEI. Either way an HEI equipped SB 350 that is stock or even a little warmed over runs great at 8 degrees, thats where I set mine too.

On a stocker with HEI,I would try a 10-12 BTDC setting. listen to what the engine wants,go pull a few hills.....if it spark rattles, its too much. If you dont have enough timing,it will put a dent in perfomance/milage........69 longhorn.
