Trucks
Did you guys happen to see the episode of "Trucks" on TV Sunday. I think it was on "Speed" Channel. They chopped a '66 C10 long wheel base down to a short wheel base. I thought it was interesting. Showed where to take the length out. I hope they don't stop there, but continue to show the work on the truck.

Re: Trucks
They already ran that show once before. I'm hoping they continue on with the project though. As far as the show goes, it comes on Saturday and sunday in the morning. I think at about 1130-1200. I just went to the web site and It looks like there will be another episode this weekend. You can get more info at www.powerblocktv.com

Re: Trucks
Actually, I don't think it's been that long since it first aired. not even half a year.

Re: Trucks
I would rather see a lwb converted to a swb, than some of the other stuff being done to perfectly good trucks.

Re: Trucks
i dunno if its because im a LWB owner myself or that the truck the sectioned was in excellent condition...I would have rather seen a little more beat up ride cut up than a nice ride like that one. The job was definetly good, BUT, anyone with a good eye will notice that the wheel openings are different. Hopefully they do show more progress on that build though.

Re: Trucks
I was interested in the project for the fact, in this part of the world, the mid '60s pickups one finds "out behind the barn" with a "big back wondow" are long wheel base. I have yet to find a SWB.

If you have a LWB truck, a rusty cancer ridden LWB truck, which is in need of patch paneling and days upon days of cutting and welding in repair panels (which at this point should be in obvious need of new paint) then whipping out the sawzall would be warranted in this case. I don't mean to offend anyone, but in my humble opinion this is a clear cut case where well enough should have been left alone. There's gonna be a time in this world where ain't nobody gonna be able to find any of these old trucks around anymore. My .02 |

Re: Trucks
Keeping factory lines on a 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks is the key to me. lwb or swb, if doesn't matter, but to alter the body lines these trucks are known for, is a travesty. Factory body lines are ageless for all vintages of cars and trucks...altering them is genetic re-engineering.

Re: Trucks
Something about the powerblock format doesn't appeal to me. A 30 minute show has 20 minutes of commercials. Then the hosts spend another 5 minutes advertising more products. There is about 5 minutes of actual programming. It's just basically an infomercial for the sponsors.

Re: Trucks
I hate it too bro. Television sucks. I can watch TV for 3 hours and not see anything! Everytime a commercial comes on, I change the channel and find something else to watch. Moments later it's commercial time and I change the channel again. I end up watching nothing all the time.

Re: Trucks
There is a link on the powerblock website to itunes where you can buy it for like $2.I down loaded it before I cut my '64 stepside down.
The frame measurements are ok but the bed is totally different,if I remember correctly I took out 14 1/2" in front and 5 1/2" the rear. Looks pretty good so far.I dropped it 4" in the back and 3 1/2" in the front and added discs and 5 on 5 spindles today. My brother also did the make a long a short after seeing mine.He has a '65 fleetside, worked out just like on the show. |
