Power Steering Info Please
I would like to add power steering to my 67 C20 and I need to know what style of pump and bracket to use. This is the one I have and it won't fit. Could some one please comment on what I have and what I'll need for my application. The pictures are of what I have and where I'm trying to mount it. My motor is a 283. Also, If anyone has what I need, please let me know.
Thanks!!

Re: Power Steering Info Please
The one shown works with a long water pump. You need the brackets & pulleys to go with the short water pump. Often you can find them on mid to late 60,s cars at the salvage lots.

I've searched for about 2 hrs and really haven't found the answers to my questions. Does someone have a picture (to post) of the correct set up I would need? From my search results, this seems like a popular topic with no real definitive answers. It seems that (duh) long water pump brackets are different from short water pump brackets and brackets from '73 on are different. I have also found that there are 3 different pump measurements (measurements from the pump back to the pulley groove). I think I know which type I need but if I can find the right one on my next purchase (instead of the long water pump set up that I bought by mistake), I could stop pulling my hair out. Thanks!!!!

Re: Power Steering Info Please
You sure you got a 283? i think the 250 and 292 were standard in your truck.

Re: Power Steering Info Please
Here is an illustration of the brackets that are used on the small block V-8's. I will try to get a pic of the pump.

Re: Power Steering Info Please
Here is a picture of a sbc power steering pump with short water pump.
Sometimes pulleys don't match up so check the alignments on the pumps as there are different pulleys on the pumps. Jim
