What's the Weight of a 86 blazer tub?

I need to move a tub I purchased, and was wondering roughly how much it weighs.

No front clip
no doors
top and tail gate are intact.

Any idea?


(sorry to post here, but this thread is a bit more active, and I am looking to do this tomorrow if possible,

hhmmm (no frame or wheels. and no intereior or engine or trans( hmm il guess it at about 1200

maybe cause the top is i thing 300 alone. icould be wrong but it could be more around 900 but im skeptical there

Sounds about what I was thinking. It does have the front seats, but not sure about the rest.. Will see when I get there.

The top only feels like 300 if you try to move it yourself. I think it is more around 100. I would guess a tub closer to 600-700 lbs. with no doors and minimal interior. 6 people may be enough to move it. We use 4 for a pickup bed, and it feels like almost nothing. If you have a cherry picker handy, attach a chain to the holes that hold the fenders on at the cowl, and pick it up there. two people should be able to pick up the rear end of the tub and guide it onto your trailer, with another operating the cherry picker. Unbolting the top to move it would save a bit of weight as well. Since the gate is intact, it shouldn't make it feel weeker.

hmm 4 people on a pick up bed (that would have been hady when i did a project some time back) my back is still messed i think from that

Note never try and remove a bed off a frame by ur self its possible but mane that think is huge (luckly i didnt need it so it got all messed up in the removal

Thanks guys I will see how it goes, and let you all know. You confirmed what I was thinking, and even if the weight is off a couple of hundred pounds, I think I have the help to pull it off. (now once I get it to my shop, I'm on my own!) that should be fun

I was looking at the pics of your two projects and was going to pass on a little info- The floor and rear frame mounting area is completely different between 73-77 and 78-newer. The rear floor was redesigned to allow more foot room, and the rear seat was redesigned to fold and flip. The tailgates will interchange, but swapping the tub as a whole will present some challenges.

I found that out while researching Blazers way back when. I'm sure since one is a 77 and the other a 75 I should have no issues. I will know soon enough, I just worked out a deal this weekend to have the frames sand blasted next month. So during the next few weeks doing the teardowns I will be able to tell one way or another.

The other thing about options on Blazer's is the fold down rear seat. Never really payed any attention to mine at first, and now have a couple of fold downs to install. Will be researching what I need to do to create the rear mount.
