why are power steering pumps such a PITA?

They should be so simple but there always seems to be and issue when I replace them. Did gm make like 100 different type of brackets? Seems like they never match the pump the part stores give me, or the wrong size pulley? Ok rant off, I'm just a little irritated it took 4.5 hours to do a 1 hour job ha ha.

Re: why are power steering pumps such a PITA?

When I did the engine swap in my 84 I used an Alan Groves bracket. The factory motor mount had to be modified but it works a lot better than that junk I replaced it with.

I hear your pain Cochino12, I had the same problem with my master cylinder, it took me about 4 days to tract down the right one for my truck. I finally had to pull casting numbers off the old one and they matched it up with that.
