I'll go check out the part number when I get back to my truck weekend after this one. I would imagine a Ford dealership may have them, not sure. I found it in my great-grandparents garage (my great-grandpa, rest his soul, was a train engineer and gear head, lots of cool stuff is buried in that garage), and kept it because it looked cool on my desk.

It fit really tight on the neck. And enough so you had to push it down to get the key to unlock. The only way you were going to get it off with out a key, is if you could drill it, and only hope it comes off that way.

i took 6 pieces of 6" long by 1/2" wide stainless steel rivited it in the middle, spead the out bent them oposing ways 3 on one side 3 on the other and put it in the hose between the tank and the cap, never had gas stolen again

I got one a few years ago. My rottie did the silent grrrr and woke me up. When I check the bugger was trying to get into the truck. (looking for the door popper) I grabbed a less damaging piece and shot the bugger in the back and leg. He spun out and fell to the ground. Was going to let the dog chew em too but he looked nice and sore. two 22 pellets from a crossman backpacker.
Now the garage is emptied out with the truck inside, so I sleep better.


I like the copper on your lines that is intense.
Just need something down the spout so the s. tube cant get all the way down. The basket idea is the way to go. Even a few SS bars welded in there would do it. Then they will cut your lines if they want it bad enough..........

Yea guys, I appreciate all the imput. There are allot of great ideals here. I will find something and get it implimented to further prevent this. Now they are steeling my tire changing tools and my tow hitch brace. I have put hood locks on the truck now and removed the spare tires to the garage for now. People around here are just down right desparite and low down.

Or, mount the gas tank in the back. Keep the current, and fill it with a mixture of gas and diesel. So, it has a gas smell, but kill'em with the diesel!

Here's something to try - if you want to go the "computer geek" route (I can say that, cuz I am a computer geek):

After that, I would try something like adding some antifreeze to the tank - if you have another tank to run the truck from. Whatever vehicle you see in town that's belching huge clouds of white smoke would be your culprit.

most guys i know tear there trucks apart as far as they can, scatter the pieces amongst many buildings and don't worry about putting fuel in them for years. persolaly i think if you cut the first guy's hand off and hang it from the filler neck the rest will move along to somone elses vehicle

no what you do is hook up some bright ass flood lights and have them pointing at your truck.... also have the sensor routed to the nearest window...heres what will happen...as soon as they get in front of the sensor the flood lights will come on and so will the lights from the window...they will SCATER!!! i have seen this done its freaking amazing...and funny too

o i almost for got....you could use a modern solution.... put a screen in the neck so they cant get a hose down in there

you can screw in a coil spring from a old bed into the inlet alomst till it drops. a rubber hose cant get in but the filler at the station will compress the spring

Yeah, can't beat a set of those floodlights. Thieves are like vampires, they don't like bright lights. The basket/screen ideas are pretty good, too.

Like someone said before, if thieves want something, they WILL get it. You just have to hope they are of the (even) less intelligent variety. I had a truck stolen that had The Club and an alarm w/starter kill and a backup battery. It was in a lot w/a security guard too. They had about a 15 min. time window from the time I parked until I got back to where the truck had been.

The Cool Cap does require modification.
It does not attach to the stem that comes out of the tank, it sits flush on the side of the cab.

Back in the '70s when gas first went up auto parts stores sold an inti siphon coils spring device to insert into your fuel filler.

Crap,they got me (10 gallons,$35) last week from under the truck.But worse was the fact that they pushed the line back together and it came apart on my 1st job and 15 gallons was pouring out onto my hot pipes and then down the street.Finally got it back together after being soaked in gas.
I thought they got the cap off because there was no leak right away when I refilled it.
I'm thinking a dead skunk under there,or maybe some big dog s%%t might keep them away but realistically,I'll probably just put 1 gal.(maybe contaminated) in there and run from one of the side tanks.
