Do I have to use a 4 amp fuse?
Posting here for more traffic and hopes of a quick answer.
There are two inline fuses for the engine wiring harness. They are the tube type. I broke the stupid things trying to see if they were blown They're the odd ball half size and so far at the parts stores all I've seen are 2 amps and 7.5 amps. Is the 7.5 too high? I think amps=watts/volts but I have no idea what wattage the truck uses? Thanks

Re: Do I have to use a 4 amp fuse?
Autozone carries the correct 4 amp fuses. They protect the ammeter.

Re: Do I have to use a 4 amp fuse?
I've always wondered what those were for.... and in fact, when I pull the link apart, it seems like nothing happens mine were up towards the front of the fender on either side, I just shoved in a tube fuse of whatever I had

Correct, they do protect the ammeter and if you use to high of a fuse it can melt the printed circuit....Randy

Those go to the ampmeter. I,ve used 6 amp in them often. They fit ok. Anything longer & it will not close.

Re: Do I have to use a 4 amp fuse?
Thanks for the info fellas. I finally found them at NAPA. Here's the interesting thing. The guys at NAPA are always cool, and tend to actually know something about cars, and the fella even got out his electrical catalog... for the size fuse I needed, they were sold in: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7.5 etc. sizes... no 4 amp, WTH?
Anyway, I bought the 5 amp ones.
