Factory restoration info ?
Well, I've got nearly everything to start restoration on my 72 Super. Does anyone know of a website or location to find information about factory paint marks - like on steering sectors, alternators, master cylinder? There's probably not any "truck" links out there, but there's gotta be something out there for Camaro, Corvette. Thanks for any help.

You can get some kind of information packet from GM but I'm not sure what it includes or how you go about getting it. Maybe one of the guys that knows will post up..... LockDoc

Re: Factory restoration info ?
Yeah, I got one of those restoration packs - just B&W stuff. I'm looking for some restoration photos - you see these high $$ Chevelles, Camaros, etc. that look better than showroom new and they have all the correct markings. Also need to know what frame and suspension parts are black and what are cast iron gray.

Re: Factory restoration info ?
Sammy has some photos there to go by. My 71 has 118 under the driver's side bucket on the floor, and the A50 on the core support as well as paint code under the M/C and the wheel base info on the firewall as well as VIN #. The wheel base 10734 is on the pass frame rail, and the rear most crossmember. The hood springs had a yellow dot on the end of each spring and a spot of paint on the steering sector at the top of the inspection plate? The springs (Front) have a white band of paint close to the lowest spring in the cup. There is a dot of paint on the top of the M/C cover and a tag around the bails of the M/C as well as one around the throttle cable. Do not know if the there were any codes on the alt like on the camaros but there prob. were. If you are looking for 100 pts. I suggest running down tower clamps, white striped vac. hose, correctly bent PCV hose, and the correct ribbed heater hoses and vac. lines as well as washer hoses. Most of this stuff is available but not from truck places- try NPD and Rick's first generation in Tucker GA. They have most of the detail stuff like this as well as stamps for booster and Alt. If you have any questions or need pictures of this stuff shoot me a PM and I will try to help you out. Also start searching for an original truck with the evap. canister in place- they usually have the original evep hose still in place - they have GM numbers etc. that are not reproduced anywhere and really make the engine look right.

Re: Factory restoration info ?
Thanks for these pics - that's a start. I went to a Super Chevy event a few years ago and saw a 69 Camaro that was pristine. It had correct markings on master cylinder, steering box, radiator support, and lots more stuff. I should have taken lots of pics! Just checking to see if anyone knew of a link that showed location and color of all marks GM used or some restoration photos showing this stuff.
