Simple Question from a rookie. Where is the temp. sensor located?

I cannot find the temp. sensor or the wire that runs from the guage to the sensor? I have a 1972 Chevy Blazer K5 V8 350. Thanks!

I'm gonna move this where you'll get more views. On a 2wd the temp sensor is on the front of the drivers side head. It has a nail head style head on it and the wire going to it is supposed to be green iirc.

Could also be on the front of the intake manifold

I've had my stock one fall off because they are not a very good clip design. Its been a long time, buy I think I could see the wire dangling in my wheel well.

I'm betting that temp sensor is on the drivers side manifold of that 350 if you need me to I'll take a pic tonight. looks like a mini spark plug. if there is no wire on it.

Heck this next thread ought to make you laugh. I felt stupid as a rock after they pointed out the obvious and nobody out here made fun of me. They just helped out.

Re: Simple Question from a rookie. Where is the temp. sensor located?

My temp sensor is between spark plugs 1 and 3 (front two on the drivers side) and a little above them. It's right between the two exhaust ports. If there are headers on your truck, the header could block the port. I dunno where it would be if that were the case.

The wire is a green wire with a black cloth insulator around it. If the insulator is over 30 years old, there might not be much of it left. It get's kinda brittle over time. It should run down the driver's side of the intake manifold, around the front of the head and down to the sensor. However, on both of the trucks I have, a previous owner re-routed them to between the steering box and the exhaust manifold pretty much just hanging there.

Re: Simple Question from a rookie. Where is the temp. sensor located?

I appreciate yalls help and understanding. I am trying to learn as I go which takes lots of time. Everything worked fine up until about a 3 months ago. I will get pics up before I really get into working on the truck. I found the temp. sender between the 1 and 3 spark plugs. My only problem now is that the one from NAPA does not fit. I have a gauge not a light in my consol but the bad temp. gauge in the truck is one for a light???? A new temp. sender for a light looks like it may fit does this make any sense to anyone???

I was wondering if anyone has tried the glove box lock and the in dash speakers from the LMC magazine? Is it worth the hassle?

Another question… I am planning on trailering my K5 about 500/600 miles. Can I do this with v8mangnum 4 door Dakota???? U-haul says its okay but I am not sure I will be looking numbers of both vehicles. Towing will be mostly flat ground..

Re: Simple Question from a rookie. Where is the temp. sensor located?

Check the other side/head I am doing the heads on my 71 now and it has a temp guage sensor on each side one for a guage and one for a light. One is a square plug on and the other a circle slip. i ask my dad about it, He is a retired mechanic and restorer. He said that he had seen it many many times. Guess they weren't sure which dash it was getting so they installed both
