high idle question

im by no means a carb expert, so I dont know what I should be adjusting. my problem is my truck stays on high idle all the time this is fine when i first start it but when im just cruising around town it gets annoying fast, any ideas what i should be adjusting? the carb is a carter 625 i believe and has electric choke if that helps

Sounds like you need to adjust the idle screw, turn the idle down some. Carter carbs are basically like an Edelbrock, which is what I have on mine. I'll see if I can find a good close up pic of the front of the carb so you can see what the idle screw is just in case you're not sure. Ok, I found you a pic of an Edelbrock and if your Carter looks like that then the idle screw is circled in red. Crank the truck up and with it idling in Park adjust it clockwise or counter clockwise with a screwdriver until you get the idle you want.

If you have a tach that will help you with setting your idle speed. Hope that worked for you too.
