I'm pretty sure it's a Ford block. Has anyone ever heard of or know anything about a Ford 352???

It's in the FE family . One of the heaviest motors ever made . 100 # intake manifold .

It is definately a Ford. 352's are "big" blocks but I really don't know much more about them.

The funny about the the FE engines is that a lot of engines that aren't 352's have "352" casted on them. I have seen 390's and 428's with "352" casted on the block. There are a set of casting numbers above the starter that actually what you go by. There are several websites you can find to decode it. Most 352's aren't really disireable, but some of the 390's are and all of the 428's have decent value.

Don't know a lot about Fords,but I did have a 1966 Galaxie 500 2 door hardtop with a 352 and a 4 barrel carb plus factory dual exhaust.Man, that sucker loved gas,but would sure haul the mail! It sounded great after a set of new glass pack mufflers and a tune up.Bought it for 225.00 bucks and rodded the crap out of it for about 3 years.still strong when I sold it for 1000.00 to a collector of old Fords.He said as he left, boy you don't know what you had,and I just smiled and kept counting the 20's.Hee Hee! GM ALL THE WAY!!!:haha

You missed the 332 and 406! Techically, the 331, 361, and 391 are FT engines, but they basically an FE design.

BTW, Ferd is the only manufacturer in the world that would have 11 different displacements in the same basic engine ranging less than 100 cu in apart!

The 427 is listed as an FE (Ford/Edsel) in a couple of my references.

The 430, along with the 383, 410, and 462 are MEL engines, which was Mercury/Edsel/Lincoln, but again are basically FE's.

i'm rebuilding a 430 from a 61 lincone for a guy now quite a bit different the deck is at a 10 degree angle to the cylinders putting the combustion chambers in the cylinders rather than the heads like the 348 and 409 chevys and parts are incredably expensive cams arent avalible we had to send it out to be reground many other parts are nos only

In ''66 thru early '69 I had a bright red '63 Ford XL (sport bucket seat trim model) 2-door hardtop in the less-often seen & I think much better-looking "squareback" roofline, which was replaced by the more popular "63-1/2 fastback" body style line; those are often seen in the old NASCAR clips.
A buddy & I rebuilt the engine with a 427 cam & solid lifters & a bigger 4-barrel carb & manifold. Drop-in modifications, but it sure changed the power of that cast iron monster. Absolute stock 352 otherwise. I surprised a lot of guys in 396 Chevelles & GTO's with it. It was a heavy tank, but it would haul a** in a straight line. I got rid of it in the early Spring of '69 because I was getting ready to get married. And I couldn't afford to feed gas to it anymore. By the way, early that summer of '69, the local gasoline stations in North Missouri went into a "gas war" --- ask your parents or some old guy you know what those were --- and the price dropped from 19.9 cents down to 11.9 cents per gallon at some stations, before it later went up & stabilized for a year or so at about 22 - 24 cents. Then came the gas shortages & lines at the pumps. Almost EVERYBODY got rid of their musclecars, then. |
