Re: Bed Wood

If you want nice quality and free shipping try Mar-k but you will be paying for that quality.

GMC Pauls (if they answer the phone), Brothers, LMC all have it also. There are also a number of folks on the internet selling it.

I bought my wood from the guy who sells on Ebay...he had about the best price and his shipping was the cheapest I could find and my strips and bolts from Mar-K for their free shipping....they would not do free shipping on Longhorn wood and that is what I needed. That extra 6 inches and 5 pounds pushed it over the edge for them?!?!!?!?

Re: Bed Wood

There is a member who is producing these kits and selling them to LMC and others. He lives in Kingsport Tenn. so he is close and has many options for wood, exotic to oak. He is a great guy to deal with, ijust can't remember his handle, but he lives near Bob Cowen- BCowenwheels. Contact Bob and get his info, would save some shipping. The Mar-k setup is a great setup as well I bought mine from Jerry Brown, Truck shop, and it was the Mar-K stuff all wood matched well and was cabinet grade wood, with instructions. Either way is a good way to go. Bruce Horkey also makes a good kit.

Have you installed the bed wood yet? Why didnt you get the bolts and strips from the same guy? What kind of wood did you get and i'd like to see some pics of the wood installed in your truck. Sorry about all the questions but the Ebay prices are great compared to everywhere I've checked and I've been burned buying less expensive stuff before.

Re: Bed Wood

I have the wood.......I have no complaints....looks good, fits well......I got the strips from Mar-K because they were on sale and it was free shipping at the time. (cheaper)

I will post pics when I am done but you probably wont be able to tell much because I am going with an ebony stain...so its going to be dark

red oak.....its all I could get from him for a Longhorn

His shipping was $80.....everyone else wants double or tripple that to go the same distance!

Re: Bed Wood

I am getting ready to put new wood in my bed and I am not a wood expert! I want the dark sections to be almost black and the lighter sections to be a dark grey. What kind of stain should I get and will it be compatible with a poly coating?? Thanks! ~j

Re: Bed Wood

Here's the wood in my bed. It's Brazilian Lacewood.I bought it rough cut and planed and machined it to fit.It wasn't cheap, but it's different and really strong.
