Question front sway bar on '63-'66

I am adding a front sway bar to my '63.
Can someone provide me a picture of the sway bar mounting location on the lower "A" arm from their '63-'66 or '67-'72 ?
Greg

Its uncanny that you asked this question. I came on here today to ask the exact same thing! Where did you get your sway bar from? I just put the shocks and springs on and am trying to find the exact spot to mount the sway bar too

Here are a few photos of a factory sway bar on my '66 Chevy C20 Custom Camper lwb fleet. Hopefully, they will give your the information you need. Good luck and make sure to post pictures of your progress.

Sorry about the size of the photos. I haven't mastered the attachment feature yet...apparently.

Maybe we are living in parallel universes?
I am typing right now - what are you doing?

I took one off a 73 truck bolted right up on mine but I did have the front end off a 72 to start with so holes were already there.

Re: front sway bar on '63-'66

Okay, now I need help with another issue - the frame bracket dimensions.
I just priced the GM frame brackets and they came out to $34 each (I used the part # found in another thread).
I am going to make my own but need to know the rise and run dimensions for them.
Can anyone grab a tape measure and see how high they rise and how long the flat is?
Greg.

The GM # 6271375 is now $34 in Canada.

Thumbs up Re: front sway bar on '63-'66

.....heres a pic of the bracket I measured. Its a CPP item I believe. I think any thing in the ballpark should get you running just fine.

the total length is: 9 + 11/16's

from the bottom( against the cardboard in your pic) 5/8" for the low bend

2" for the high bend toward rear.

My complete measurements for the bracket were: 1.5"+5/8"+4 9/16"+2"+1 3/8"=9 11/16".

Hope this helps.........

Re: front sway bar on '63-'66

I ordered a set of sway bar brackets from CPP and will order new MOOG bushings once the bar is measured. I got the factory bar off ebay for $25.00

Re: front sway bar on '63-'66

I installed a sway bar on my C10 over the summer and had no issues drilling the a-arms with the truck on the ground. I purchased a right-angle adapter for the drill and went to town with a step bit. I spent more time triple checking where I was going to drill than actually drilling. The improvement was like night and day.

Re: front sway bar on '63-'66

Thanks ACK. Ive heard the difference is quite noticeable from several people. I hadn't thought of an angle drill, I was going to go MarkB's route of a pilot hole, raise the truck and use a step drill, I'll look into both.

You may wanna double-check addition from post #11.
Where it says, "My complete measurements for the bracket were: 1.5"+5/8"+4 9/16"+2"+1 3/8"=9 11/16" ", some where, some thing does not add up; just in case it matters! My calculator added up to a total of 10 1/16"--3/8" greater.

Kinda funny, tho'. It "stood" for almost 5 8/16 years!

I was fortunate enough to have upgraded the front suspension from a '70 C10that already had factory holes for the sway bars.
The install went fairly well once I had the correct height for the frame mount brackets.
Greg.
