Stepside Floor--Opinions needed!!!

My stepside is supposed to have a wood floor in it. Since I live in the north and I am going to use this as an everyday truck I am looking for other ideas for types of flooring. I am thinking about using 3/4" treated plywood and alluminum diamond plate. Any ideas??

use marine grade plywood, regular treated plywood will still delaminate- I'm in construction and have seen it do this many times. You would think they would use a better waterproof glue in treated plywood, but for some reason they don't.

the problem is that step beds are wider than the 4foot wide plywood so you'll need to figure out how to fill the gap

Re: Stepside Floor--Opinions needed!!!

the PO of my previous truck used plywood strips in place of the wood between the metal strips

Re: Stepside Floor--Opinions needed!!!

I have a regular wood kit for mine. It's yellow pine like original and since I plan to actually use my truck I will paint it black. If I have to paint it every few years then so be it. The original boards are almost 40 years old and still serviceable so these should last at least that long since the truck will now live indoors most of the time. No use paying the big bucks for hardwood and varnish if you are going to abuse it.

Marine plywood would be a good low cost alternitive though. Just cut to width and rabit for the strips.

Tom
