72 C20 trailer
I was wondering how much It would be worth to me to swap the rear end out of my trailer for a straight axle. I imagine it would be less weight to pull around for my truck while empty or full for that matter ? It pulls fine thanks to my crate motor but would it help more if I took out the rear end ? I figure it would be good to have as a spare I guess.

Re: 72 C20 trailer
if you have the HO52 just pull the axles, drop the 3rd member, remove all the brake components-including the drums, pack the bearings with high temp grease, either saw the axles off or make plates to cover the hubs and bolt another cover in place of the 3rd member ( I cut a flat plate and welded it over mine but another cover will work) and you have a strong and lightweight axle that uses the same spare as your C-20 truck.
dana 60s aren't as easy BUT can be lightened also.

Re: 72 C20 trailer
The heavy axle helps keep the trailer from bouncing around so much when empty,I`d think. But,what Jerry suggested is a great way to lose some unspring weight and rolling resistance (prolly not much, though).
