one piece window. . .

Hey guys, I don't have the money at the moment. . .but I can drive (legally) in a few weeks so I will have a regular source of income and plan on certain upggrades, doll-ups, etc. . . .I have stereo high on my list but what I'm going to do will come out to around $1,100. . . .and i will have that made in 3 weeks this summer. . .I really want a one piece window and a powerless one is about 400-500 bucks. . . .should i get the window and wait for the stereo this summer or get the radio then save up for a powered windows?

It is your truck, which do you want more? Decide that and then do it.

Re: one piece window. . .

The one peice windows are not that bad to install. I think it took me about two solid hours on each door, and only normal hand tools were necessary. Take your time, and follow the dirrections (as hard as that may be!) and you will be rewarded in the end. The windows look awsome when they are done. But I don't think they will have the CDI factor that the stereo will have in the end. If you don't know what CDI factor is, you have much to learn my young grasshopper. (CDI= Chicks Dig It!)

Haha, I know how sweet the outcome is for both and right now. . .my high school has two '72s (mine and this other guy who is a year ahead of me but not too bright) He doesn't have a rear bumber, but it doesn't look like a roll pan, and a billet grill. . .he has done a little work, and obviously I have to better him. . . .and since i want it both done, the window is 350 with shipping. . . .another question. . . .how much would the vent windows and the others sell for?

Bcbasketball11, a stereo is nice to have, but if the windows have issues that takes priority. If the windows work, don't go all out on the stereo & get both (the manual 1pc window kit + stereo).

Also..... Some advice from an older guy. Read your post above & reconsider calling someone else "not too bright". You're always accountable for your words & actions.

For me...I did it once on Lil' Red, but won't be doing it again on OverKill. Install is a PITA and molding fit is Sh!t IMO.

Re: one piece window. . .

I get a lot of crap about my truck, but it has never gotten egged. Maybe an alarm would be a good investment?

Re: one piece window. . .

as someone who owned and installed high end systems I would suggest to go with a one piece window right now. reason is the wing window is an easy entry point for a thief. pop that, stick your hand in, and your thousand bucks is going bye-bye. then make sure you have an alarm installed as well. preferrably one with an interior monitor.

a grand is a decent amount to spend on a system just to have it pulled out by the roots.......

just my .02

Yes I understand. . . and I never did anything in retaliation to that and it was back in september. . .he got my parents vehicles too and my parents pressed charges and he payed so I don't think that a repeat would be very probable. . .i appreciate the advice but i can assure you i'm going to be able to avoid anything by him. . . .i will look into an alarm system to make sure no stranger does. . . .

Sweet! I have been waiting for brothers to have a sell on them again. And my vote is for the windows over the stereo as I am a victim of the wing window stereo thief.

Re: one piece window. . .

Does you truck have working A/C? If it does go for the windows. If it doesn't leave the stock windows alone. I have considered doing the one piece windows but they come in handy on a hot day. I would put a radio in as soon as possible. It is hard for me to drive without a radio. Its just more fun to drive with music, but sometimes the only music you need is bellowing out of the exhaust.

i see where you are coming from but then again. . .i'm going for a very smooth look and i LOVE MUSIC. . . it is more than a passion but i am patient and do not want to rush something that is not needed to be rushed such as a stereo

Re: one piece window. . .

BC, the triangles aren't bad, a lot of people just want a solid window I believe. And Mondo was asking that question b/c the one-piece window w/out the triangle was a new design. So there were questions on whether they worked well or not.

Good luck, and let us know what you do!

Re: one piece window. . .

totally agree with TEXAS I'm camed with headers running directly into 3" cherry bombs and dumping under the cab... I love sitting in a parking spot and being able set of all the little ricers alarms with a heavy foot. Definitly turns heads. If I was you I would do the windows first. I'm a senior in High school and trust me people are real a**holes sometimes. They will break into your truck using the wings if there is anything valuable in there. Then invest in a mediocre head unit and some six by nines. Also check the local pawn shop... I've got some awesome deals on stereo stuff in there. Oh yeah and you should get a locking gas cap as well...
