7 years bad luck?

I was working on the Pass side mirror of my 68 GMC. I was removing some extentions that the PO had installed and the frame twisted and crack went the mirror. Now I need to find a replacement. It was a D29 option on the spid that is a 6 by 11 west coast mirror- jr. The drivers side has a tinted shade to it so I don't think I could just get one from any old glass shop, can any one help me fine a replacement for my old girl.

Re: 7 years bad luck?

I wish I could say Yes,but mine is not there yet it needs a bunch of work still it is just a motavater pic.My mirrors are the same style and if any one could help me out as to were I might find the piece of an old mirror I could use or were I could purchase one that would be great! This is what I am starting with. I have put a new floor pan,Cab corners, rockers, kick pannels, all the regular stuff it's been fun but I hope I can keep working on it with the same luck I have had and the mirror getting broken isn't a sign of something.

I think any glass shop could cut you a new one. I would take it apart and just take the glass in if it is just in a couple of pieces. That way you can clean the frame up and paint it before you put the new glass in. Be sure and spray the screws with penetrating oil before you try and remove them.

I have a complete mirror you can have if you want to pay postage to ship it. It needs sanded and painted but it is useable the way it is. I would think you could get a new glass cut cheaper but you will have to check. The mirror weighs 2 pounds so it looks like about $9.00 US to ship it to Canada. Plus any duties you would have to pay on your end.
