Put the automatic in today

I yanked the 4 speed out of my truck today and managed to get the turbo 350 in place. It wasnt as bad a job as I had pictured once I realized I didnt actually have to remove the 4 speed crossmember. I didnt see any reason to remove it and in case I ever want to swap back I can. Becaue of the placement of my engine in the big block mounts I did have to drill new holes for the automatic crossmember . The Lokar shifter looks really nice in place . I'm glad I went with the Lokar . Thats a quality piece of work although I would hate to try to install one in a passenger car that has the transmission in place!

I'll weld up the old shifter hole and cut a new one tomorrow in the tunnel cover as the positioning of the shifter isnt even close to the original before I reinstall the tunnel cover. I found a place to shorten my forward driveline and balance it for $65 total so once I get the shaft back on Wednesday I should be back on the road.

With the 2200 stall converter and the B&M street and strip shift kit and adjustable modulator it should run pretty good.

Just don't forget you're driving an auto. After driving that 4 speed for awhile it becomes habit reaching for that shifter. Hate to see you throw it into park at 50mph. My mom did that once when I was a kid in a '64 Riviera. Didn't even hurt the tranny. Dad coun't believe it!
