Thumbs up Identa-plate (help)

Does anyone know where someone could have a new ident-plate made for their truck? Just got a like new owner's manual and warranty pamphlet and was wondering if a new identa-plate could be gotten with my trucks info? Other than the VIN, what info is on it? Thanx in advance for any help.

Re: Identa-plate (help)

Here is a photo of a Protect-O-Plate for a 1970 (Not Mine). The Original owner information was printed by the selling dealer and stuck to the warranty card. The VIN is easy to pick out. The engine code is at the top right and would match the engine block stamp. Hopefully this helps.

Re: Identa-plate (help)

I can see stamping the info on the plate to make it "set in stone". And even gluing the plate upside down because it is flat. But why print out the labels of owner information backward?

Re: Identa-plate (help)

they probly layed a carbon copy piece of paper over it and ran a pen accross it, so the info could be read normal on the carbon copy

Re: Identa-plate (help)

I was reading in the paperwork last night, and it said for $25.00, the second/new owner could get a new identa-plate in their name. hhhhhmmmmm, I'll have to check into that.

Re: Identa-plate (help)

The plate was used to imprint on a service order (Like an credit card imprinter). Many of us still remember credit card imprinters like this. They will likely soon be on display in a museum.

Were they able to do this with it still connected to the card it's glued to?

Unhappy Re: Identa-plate (help)

Contacted 4 dealerships today after work. All said the same thing. "Duh, you want what?" One guy referred me to someone who at least remembered them, but none could help me out.

Re: Identa-plate (help)

With all the knowledge and experience on this board, no one knows about, or has tried to find out about these? I just thought it would be kinda cool to have one?

It's cool to get one with the truck, they are usually long gone.
What name would you have put on, yours?
Somehow that seems to loose it's appeal.

Re: Identa-plate (help)

As a matter of fact, yes I would put my name on it. Owner's name is only put on with a backwards label.(where to get one of those?) I'd just like to get my trucks info on the identa-plate.
