Cutting down a frame?
Hey everyone on my truck I am thinking about cutting down the frame to a long bed, it is longer now because it is a C/30, does anyone know what the wheel base for a standard long bed 72 is?

You may not be able to put a bed on the 1 ton frame. It depends on which 1 ton frame you have.

Actually what it is that I am considering doing is cutting the frame off behind the cab, and welding in box tubing from there back, then beefing it all up, and making it really solid, then putting really heavy duty spring hangers on that, and then when the cab comes off, I would box the frame from there forward.
I have the front suspension from a 95 1 ton dually that I could then install.

Another option is a Longhorn bed. I sometimes wish I had known where one was before I cut my frame. I also like the short, stocky look mine has with wide rearend and 8' box, so it either way is cool to me. The Longhorn box does save the frame being cut which seems to be really important to some people.

I have thought about that as well, and it might be an option, especially if I stuffed dually fenders on it, it would give it the long low look...
