Calling for Seat Photos and ideas
Help
I tried a set of leather bucket seats in my 57 Chevy truck but since they were semi-high backs the fit wasn't right. I think I am just going to have my original bench seat custom re-upolstered. I don't want the plain flat smooth look I am looking for ideas extra foam here and there, buttons or mix of materials. Please post photos of your seats I would love to see them. Thanks Mark |

Re: Calling for Seat Photos and ideas
I can second the later model chevy seat. Just put in a bench from a 90 GMC and it is a perfect fit. Even comes with the 40/60 arm rest in the bench. Is a great seat for a small back window pickup. Just bolt to the floor and go.

Re: Calling for Seat Photos and ideas
I am thinking about making some kind of sub frame to use with the stock outer frame. So I can use built up foam and cotton so i can make the seat panels sunken with bolsters Kinda like the old T-bird back seats.
If I do it that way i would be able to put the fuse box under the seat fairing. |

Re: Calling for Seat Photos and ideas
I lost track of the different seats that I had in the 48 but the most comfortable and best looking was the stock seat that Bobby Russel of Waco, Tx redid for me in 72 Chev saddle tan Naugahyde in 1973. He did real roll and pleats and gave me the club member deal on a seat that would cost the high side of 500.00 now. You could drive 500 miles sitting on that seat and not feel bad when you got out.
Buckets are pretty but for most guys they aren't practical. If you want buckets you might look at early 90's Mopar Mini van Captains chairs. The driver's side is usually electric and the passenger side has a storage drawer under it. They sit the right height for a truck too. Most car buckets won't work as the lean backs lean back too much plus high backs look terrible in these trucks. I've got 60/40 split bench out of about a 90 Chev extended cab in the 71 GMC I drive daily and it works great and both sides adjust so if you have a shorter driver the passenger doesn't have to have cramped up leg room. |

Re: Calling for Seat Photos and ideas
I used buckets out of a 2006 trailblazer because they had integrated seat belts. Both seats are 6 way pwr, heated and memory. You can get any seat reupholstered to meet your needs.
