Wink fuel tank

does anyone know what the largest fuel tank that will fit in the stock location under the back of these burbs is? I don't care if its aftermarket or one you can get at the junkyard. I wouldn't mind even doing a little cutting and fabricating to make it fit. Mine is all beat up and the straps are rusting through, not to mention the fuel gauge doesn't work, so my tank will need replacing soon. Thanks.

Re: fuel tank

Mine had a crazy homemade one in it when i got it but it hung down too low.I got one out of a Jeep cheroke, it fit between the rails perfect.I think they come in two sizes.

Re: fuel tank

My 72 Suburban has a 55 gallon tank. The previous owner made it.

Re: fuel tank

a 55 gallon would be perfect! Looks like I will have to get one custom made then.

Re: fuel tank

I am putting an ECE 27 gallon tank in my sub, have to move the rear crossmember though... kinda spendy but super nice, all stainless, sits up between frame rails, all baffled

55 gallons at 8.5 lbs a gallon is a lot of weight to carry around seems like, might hurt your gas mileage pretty good?

Re: fuel tank

Blue'72 has a 40 gal tank that I don't think he'll be using. I could get it as far south as Medford if you two would be interested.
