What about those Gas Lift shocks on a hood?
I have been pondering the idea of putting some of those gas lift shocks on my hood. Taking the springs out... I know its not bad on my '69 but oh man on my '76 that hood was nearly buckled in two. And that stinkin hood was the dickens to close! Has anyone done this or have any ideas on it...???

I think they just need to be PB Blasted or lubbed up just like the door hinges need every now & then.

Spray the living dickens out of every pivot point on the hinges with good ol' fashioned WD-40.

"living dickens"...... is that 1 or 2 cans of dub-D, might be safer if you give ounces?

Re: What about those Gas Lift shocks on a hood?
Meaning
A lot; as in 'hurts like the dickens'. Origin Nothing to do with Charles Dickens. Dickens is a euphemism for the word devil, possibly via devilkins. Shakespeare used it in 'the Merry Wives of Windsor: 'I cannot tell what the dickens his name is my husband had him of.'

I'll rephrase for the kids. Soak the heck out of all the pivot points with WD-40.

I went back and reread your original post and caught my error. I was the hood on a '76 that was nearly buckled. More than once I've seen them do that because of crud in the hinges & that's why I chimed in. I have no idea if the gas lift things would work, or not.
