What do you think ? The door panels in the Tan 78 are just a little tattered at the rear of the door panel . I figure I will redye these and they will have a new home in the 78 . Frank

The dark blue panels must have been the least used since most of the NOS sets I have seen are dark blue . If I remember right , yours(N2TRUX) were blue when you stripped them to redye . The other pair I have are dark blue also . I have been saving them for my 77 longbed along with the NOS light blue dash pad . I had been tempted to use the panels on my 78 but hopefully I wont have to now .

Is there any way to repair door panels ? A plastic repair kit of some sort ? Frank

That is a GREAT deal Frank! Be careful when you take apart your orig panels...I have found that the studs on the trim pieces often (as in almost always) snap off when removing the nuts due to their age.

I think the factory made all of them dark blue. I feel very confident that the ones I picked up were on the original doors as they came from GM.

No, there is nothing that will repair them. The material they are made from will not allow anything to stick. We used a patch piece on the back side of mine and held it with silicon, but it was not very secure.

a 2 part epoxy will work well and will stick no problem...done it before. This method works great for cracks, but reattaching a broken off piece will be more difficult and hard to hide on the outside.

That is a great price for a set of NOS door panels, great catch. Here is a bit of useless trivia. I worked for a company that made automotive interior trim parts, typically serivce or replacement parts are run only in one color, usually the most popular. That is why NOS door panels are most often a dark blue.

I was looking to bid on those yesterday, but a bout of food poisoning kept me flat on my back and unable to do anything other than moan and shiver. That's about what I was willing to pay and I think you did good. Hopefully I can find another set in the near future. I know where I can get a set now, but the price is about double.

I think I am going to use a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the studs while using a box end wrench to remove the speednuts . I hope that they do not break . My bid was quite a bit more than the end price so I am happy I got them for this amount . As far as colors go , there are different numbers cast in the back of the door panels for different colors . I searched some of the numbers before but never found any available but Blue . I think the ones in the truck now are a little faded so these will help after they are dyed and installed .

There used to be a guy on Ebay selling aftermarket door panels like these but they did not have the holes in them for the pouches . The pics looked like they were a nice repro piece and I almost bought some to see how they looked in person . I havent seen them on Ebay in a while now . I think the guy was in Arizona . If anyone has info on these , please let me know . Frank
