WAAHOO A nice free truck, Free!!
Boy did I luck out. I was looking at craig's list, sneeking peaks at work, and found an ad for a free truck. The pics showed it in the weeds and it looked OK, for free. I called the guy and he said if I wanted the truck then he would pull the ad. He said it belonged to his son who was in prision. He was cleaning out the place and his son said to just get rid of it. So it went on craig's list. I have a nice 68 and have been looking for a truck for my son. My boy and I picked it up that night. This truck is in very nice shape. Not very much rust, very little in all the normal spots. The bumpers are just about perfect, windshield is toast and the dash is all pulled apart. I think he was planning on painting the inside. 250, six cyl. Put in a battery and a starter, ran up the oil pressure, and she started right up. It was already full of antifreeze. Even the washer bottle had cleaner in it! Oil was very clean. Only thing I'm not too crazy about is 3/4 ton and long bed. But Free is nice, with title. My boy and I are already starting on his first old chevy. He's behind the wheel.

Nice!
The only way it could have been any better would be for him to pay you to haul it off. We all know that ain't ever gonna happen.

Re: WAAHOO A nice free truck, Free!!
if your truck maxes at 65... then there is something desperately wrong. you should be able to do 100 or better.
As for the free rig... SWEET! |

Re: WAAHOO A nice free truck, Free!!
That's got to be the deal of the year.
I sure hope you got a signature from the owner.I'd hate to have a guy fresh out of prison looking for his truck someday.

Re: WAAHOO A nice free truck, Free!!
well, I have gotten to 70 before ( 75 downhill) but the motor could use new gaskets and such. teh real reason that it don't get much more than that is the rear gear. someone changed teh rear end out to a f**d 9 inch and put a steeper gear in there. stomp on the gas and she pulls like a 350, but in third at 65-70 shes wound up pretty good.
