Talking Wrecking yards and pickups

Ive been seeing a lot of 67-72 pickups lately at local wrecking yards. I was wondering if there are any parts that might be worth saving from being crushed that can be used on a BLAZER/JIMMY?,Because I really hate seeing Classics in there. I figured it wouldnt hurt to have good parts laying around that I or somebody else can use. Especially original sheetmetal

Re: Wrecking yards and pickups

Lots can be used, hoods, doors, front fender, inner fenders, core supports, list could go on and on. Portions of beds can be used to repair our bed sides. Wiring harness, dash bezels, TILT columns!!! Tow hooks, bumpers, like I said, too many parts to mention that can be used from a pickup on a K5. Little things you might not think of being needed can be. Seems someone is always looking for an unmolested hump, both high and low, clean original doors are in demand. Basically if the sheetmetal is good, those parts are much more diserable than a repop part.

There are a number of boardmembers who specialize in collecting these vehicles and then ripping them apart to sell off the good stuff. We all need good parts and while we hate to see a nice vehicle ripped apart for parts, it does happen and of course I have no problem with taking a parts vehicle and using every good part off of it. Good parts don't grow on trees! (But, trees do grow around good parts sometimes!)
